Share and Inspire, what does it really mean? Simple, Share what you’ve learned and there make it as your inspiration. A One way for that to inspire others is through Blogging.

For me, Blogging is a way on how you will express your opinion, knowledge based on the experiences that you’ve learned. From the facts that you’ve want to share to give more of your readers and followers to learn and know, Blogging is a one way to do it.

In doing or making a blog, you must really know the following consequences in every post you’re going to make. One of those is Plagiarism.

Plagiarism, is a way of imitating or copying a one's work without his/her authorization.

To avoid that, always put references on where you’ve got it even though it’s just a pictures or videos. Make sure also that your references are working and reliable. Avoid Copy, Paste.

Blogging can be about, Fashion, Educational Purposes, Music, Sports and can be also about your Life. Where in you can use any of these categories to share knowledge and inspire them.

For me, doing an edublogging is a one way for me to share and express of what I’ve learned about Clinical Chemistry topics (endocrinology and toxicology) and thanks to it. Blogging, also helps you to think, and give responses to your problems in your society, fashion, and school, through the other blogger. It is also a way to make you more closer to the reality, society and changes happening in the world.

To personally end this, there is a one quote that inspires me when doing this blog:

"The pen is mightier than the sword," - A quotation from Rizal.

Dito ay ginamit ni Rizal na panlaban ay ang pagsulat para maipamahagi niya ang kanyang saloobin at ang mga maling gawain ng mga espanyol noon.

Today, I can say writing is a one way for us to express and share knowledge and that’s what I’ve learned in making a blog.

Dosage, Poison, and Toxic - TOXICOLOGY.

Dosage, Poison, and Toxic.

These are the three terms that can describe our topic for today which is about
TOXICOLOGY.

Figure 1:

But before we start, what does these three words really are? What is the relationship of these in toxicology? Does it really matter to know it? Well, YES.

Now let us first define these three words.

Figure 2:

Dosage is an administration of a therapeutic agent in a prescribed amount.

Poison is used to describe any harmful substances.

Toxic is an acting as or having the effect of a poison.

These three words will make up the word Toxicology. While I was reading about toxicology, there is a sentence that describes it, and says:

"Everything is poison, there is poison in everything. Only the dose makes a thing not a poison."

Or to make it shorter “All Substances are poisonous, they just vary in their dosage.” Or the “Dose makes the poison”.

This aphorism is come from Paracelsus, the Father of Toxicology.

This explains that any substances can‘t be poisonous especially to humans, if these substances are taken properly. These does not only refer to Foods, Medicines but also to Chemicals. And the word Dosage enters here.

Dosage, really have had the great responsibility especially in toxicology. This refers to the quantity that may take or may absorb by the body. It can be Food or Medicines, and each of these especially in Medicines is when taken more than the required dose can lead to overdose.

Now, how about in food? Does it also need dosage? Can it be poisonous? Well, it can be. How?

According to, Brownell is a Yale professor and director of the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity at Yale. He terms the word “toxic” if the person’s body is having an exposure to high-calorie and readily has the access to foods. Where in instead of taking exercise, you’re just in front of the TV watching while eating, or eating some unhealthy foods like in fast foods, where the foods are too much in calories.

Foods can be toxic to us, how? Well, it can be toxic if it’s not properly prepared, or processed. Dosage is also important especially in food but can be toxic. Examples of these are the usage of additives like MSG’s and DES (Diethylstilbestrol) and these are POISONS.

Maybe some of you may usually hear some news about food poisoning right? This is not really about that you will put some chemicals in the foods or drinks, although these might be the reason also. But it also talks about how the foods are processed.

Some can lead to be a cancer agents, like DES one example of food additives that can cause cancer in the uterus, breasts, and other reproductive organs. And these can be TOXIC to our body. These additives can be dangerous if the proper amount of it are added to much.

From the three words we describe earlier what do it really tells? Some may say it talks about drugs and its relationship to dosage.

TOXICOLOGY
is the study of the adverse effects of chemicals on humans and the relationship between dose and its effects on exposure.

ENDOCRINOLOGY - HORMONES

Endocrinology?

- What do we really know about endocrinology? First from its word "Endocrinology" we can easily say that it talks about the Endocrine System, and also about the different glands that produces "HORMONES".

Now, for us girls have you ever wondered why we are experiencing menstruation and some physical changes that happen to our body that include breast development, underarm and pubic hair growth? And for boys that experiencing also underarm growth and deepening of the voice? This is what they called Puberty.

What about, experiencing bad moods, tiredness, sleeping a lot or craving in a particular food? Not only that, for example when you see your crush? Or when you are performing on the stage? Do you feel your heartbeat   beats faster and loud? Because, these are entirely due to HORMONES, HORMONES, HORMONES.

Hmm, but have you've ever wondered, what is the Importance in knowing the relationship of Hormones and Puberty? But before that, let's now define first Endocrinology. :)

What is Endocrinology?

Endocrinology is the Scientific Study of Hormones and Endocrine glands.

Figure 1.
the Endocrine System and its organs.

In Endocrinology, it's not only about the glands and hormones that are being studied but also what type of diseases and conditions can it cause due to its hormonal imbalances.

These diseases and conditions can be due to the damage of the glands that produces hormones (e.g., pancreas, ovary) and through the use of some synthetic or natural hormonal drugs.

In the Endocrine System, there is what we called HORMONES. these hormones are being secreted by a series of ductless glands and these hormones signals the endocrine system to control and combines the functions of the organs in the body.

According to the book of Human Anatomy, Fourth Edition it says that in some ways the "Endocrine System resembles the Nervous System with which it closely interacts".

However, the Hormones in the endocrine system process slowly because it takes time to regulate the growth of the body and also the metabolism. Unlike the nervous system it rapidly response because of its nerve impulses. For example the contraction of the skeletal muscle, and the pain stimuli that activates if we are hurt.

What are the Endocrine Organs?

The Endocrine System like the other system has also what they called the Endocrine Organs, which has also specific functions and locations. Unlike other organs of the other systems the endocrine organs are just small glands that produce hormones.

These endocrine organs have what they called purely endocrine organs which these organs do not belong to the other organs.

Examples of these are the Pituitary gland, Pineal gland, thyroid and parathyroid and the adrenal glands.

The other endocrine organs that belong to other organs are the following: the Pancreas, gonads, thymus and the hypothalamus.

The endocrine system is also responsible in secreting hormones that helps in controlling the production of some body fluids or nutrients in the body.

For Example: the cases of gigantism and dwarfism,

Figure 2.

It is due to hyper and hypo secretion of growth hormone in the body that is being produced by the pituitary gland.

Aside from the pituitary gland the other case is, if the body produces too much glucose,
The pancreas one of the endocrine organs will produce insulin that will help in lowering the glucose production in order to balance the body metabolism or activity.

In that, endocrine also helps in maintaining the homeostasis in our body.

Figure 5.
this picture shows the relationship of pancreas and insulin in maintaining the body glucose of a person.

Now let us talk about the one question awhile ago:

  1. The importance between the Puberty and Hormones.

In this video it talks about how do hormones and puberty relate to each other and what are the specific hormones that functions in a specific puberty stage.
One example is the menstruation cycle in girls and the hormones responsible for that are the ovarian hormones, progesterone and estrogen.

But what about Hormones related in Emotions??

One example could be, when you see your crush? Performing on stage or an emergency situation like when your house is on fire?.. A Hormone that is responsible for this is the ADRENALINE. Our Body produces Adrenaline when we are afraid or excited in something’s or occasions, where in these hormones came from a gland which is located near our kidneys called Adrenal gland.

To further understand the hormone, ADRENALINE let's watch the video. :)

that's all :) godbless everyone! :)
